monday mornings

Got made cross country captain today that was rather cool, it’s the first year there’s ever been a captain, so I am in fact mayflowers first ever captain. I have to be studding the most depressing play ever, in English. The play is called ‘who’s life is it’ and its basically all about this man who’s been paralysed from the neck down and wants to have euthanasia, what a bundle of laughs it is.

I was totally bored yesterday, and as you do I went on polyvore, and OMG how gorgeous are theses shorts I’m completely in love with them, so I built up a whole outfit around them. I feel the looks that geek shic I completely adore.

here come the girls

'its swinging '60's London rocked - with Brit 'It' girls Twiggy, Jean Shrimpton and Marianne Faithfull taking the world by storm. Well, at last their successors have finally arrived...'
-Grazia

After reading an artical in Grazia about the new 'It' girls and a piece in Teen Vogue about Topshop finally opning American stores I really thort I should do a blog about good old Britan.

The English are coming! London's secret style weapon, fast-fashion mecca Topshop, finally lands on American shores this month with a New York City megastore.'

Chop Those Locks

I’ve been debating for some time now if I should cut my hair to a bob. Not a really short one, just one an inch above the shoulders. I’m not sure though, or should I get a different cut or grow my hair out, help!

Headband - Of some stool in Romford market
Earings - Prinmark, 5 for a pound
Top - Berni gave it to me
Jeans - Primark

I wore this rather dull outfit to the cinema and the clinic. My day was quite eventful yesterday, my friend had to go and get a test for chlamydia yesterday so I was dragged to the clinic with her. My friend, who will remain anonymous, made me get one to because ‘she felt like an idiot’ but it was okay, all we had to do put a swaud up ourselves in the toilet and hand it to the nurse. We then went down to the cinema and met up with the boys, unlucky Step Brothers was sold out so we got stuck watching the disaster movie, i’d of preferd to sit in the lobby for 2 hours eating popcorn really.

sweet

It was my gorgeous friend Hannah’s 16th party yesterday and I must say all the girls made spectacular efforts, high wasted shorts, pencil skirts and LBD where seemingly popular. I chose to wear a h&m top, a Miss Selfridges skirt, a pair of brown tights, some tan shoes from Italy and some ‘vintage’ jewellery. Now my vintage jewellery was completely free, as I borrowed it from my mum’s old jewellery box. Here is a few pictures, sorry for the poor quality.

Spring 2009, style. It looks like pastels are going to be big, creams and baby pinks look so refreshing, and will be a lovely change from thoses rich, warm and berry colours we've been wearing over the winter.

Geek

I’m starting my third project on art my topic name is called surfaces, so it has a lot of poetic license as most things have surfaces. We have to show the surfaces, such as showing tone and texture. Before we start anything we have to collect some images of what we would like to study. I would like to have this as almost a fashion project, researching designers and such, so I’ve collected photo and editorials, tell me which you think I should draw or if you have any other ideas for my project.

Heres the pictures of my school uniform I promised, all thats missing is my blazer and that just makes me look like a man, does anyone else have a uniform or am I the only unlucky one.

In Daddys Eyes

Well it was my first day back at school, and my last year of uniform, i'll get some pictures of it soon to put on here because it looks very middle class.

I completly love theses glasses there my dad's from the 80's, all i've got to get now is bad eye sight so I don't walk in to wall while wearing them.

A&W

Is Your Look 2008 Enough?
While browsing last weeks Grazia I found an good artical called 'Is your look 2008 enough?' so I decided to put these sets together and show you my interpretations of the a&w look for '08.

This is my first of my five looks. Firstly it has the Structured bag, 'sharpen your fashioista elbows - this season's most fabulous bags are structured, lady like and v. sophisticated.' The next look is the Polo neck 'It's time to dust off your skinny polo jummpers, there perfect foil to the new voluminous tulip skirts and flared. To look bang on lred layer, layer, layer under or over shirts, grandad cardigans and feminine dresses. ' Polo from Shopintuition

I adore this 'geeky' look, the Satchel style leather handbag, is from a vintage site called Rokit is the other big bag for a&w 'o8. Also bang on the money is winter florals, 'Winter florals are much bolder statement than summer's disty designs. Any print goes, form traditinal sprint to abstract florals, but the new interpretation sees bright vivid colours on darker backgrounds.' Skrit from Forever21.

In comes tartan, A-lister fans, Agyness Deyn, MK Olsen, Kelly Osbourne, Lily Allen and Pixy Geldoft. Also a key a&w trend Buttoning up Shirts, 'This season it's not about what you buy, its about how you wear it: dig out classic shirts and button them right the way to the neck.' Shirt from Browns Fashion. Also rediscovering your waist 'belts still rule, but where you wear them has changed this season. This time forget high wasted and accentuate your 'true' waist.' Belt from All Saints,

This look is tottaly fabulous, it to had the structured bag and buttoning up shirts. Socks and shirt from Abercrombie & Fitch.

In, raiding jewellery boxes, 'Vintage-look 'heirlooms' jewellery made a huge comeback on the run ways, where most was definietly more. Get the look by plundering thrift stores for costume jewllery.' jewllery both from vintage sites, dress from topshop.

Please tell me what you think, and let me know if you would like to know where anything is from, Emma.

Brand Spanking New

Where has all the glamour gone?

I never understand why we save our best cloths, if we save them nobody will see the beauty of our wardrobes.

I believe that we should become less sloppy, stop wearing our worn in jeans and old cardies and make more of an effort, with smart pencil skits, frocks and high wasted trousers. I must admit I do not always follow this myself, but when I do look nice it does make me feel far more confidant so I am indeed starting to make an effort, not just in my cloths but my whole appearance, say goodbye to chipped nails and sloppy make-up, and say the biggest goodbye to my good friend the scruff bun and bed hair, I shall now try have my appearance sleek, sexy and not forgetting sophisticated. Let’s take inspiration from theses gorgeous celbs' and the women from the 20's-50's.Though it must be said some have found the perfect middle, like Alexa Chung and Pixie Geldof. These two are probably my biggest style icons. Alexa Chung may not wear elegant fitted cloths but she still seems incredibly stylish in semi- casual outfits, maybe this is the new 21st century approach to glamour.
